When the infamous child-killer known as the Springwood Slasher - revealed to be school janitor Fred Krueger - was freed from possible incarceration due to a technicality, his victims' parents decided to take justice into their own hands by capturing and burning Krueger to death in the same boiler room where he had committed his heinous crimes. Unknown to them, they created an evil more powerful and treacherous than anything the world had ever seen. While his body was burning, Krueger's soul was propositioned by hellish dream demons. They offered him the chance to continue tormenting the souls of Springwoods teenagers while they slept. Thus the nightmare killer Freddy Krueger was born! Although he only exists within the Dream World, Freddy's power is so strong that he can easily blur the line between reality and dreams, and can physically affect one's body in the real world. His victims' fears are the source of his power, and by consuming the soul of each of his victims, Freddy's power grows. However, there are a few who have successfully faced Krueger in battle. By regaining control of their dreams and forcing Freddy into the tangible world where he is more vulnerable, some of Freddy's adversaries have escaped a gruesome death at the blades of his customized gloves. Unfortunately, as long as there is legend and fear of the nightmare killer, Freddy Krueger lives on in Hell, waiting for the chance to enter the dreams of those unlucky enough to live in a town called Springwood, on a street named Elm!
