During the Battle of the Bulge ion the Ardennes forest on the border between Germany and France, Hitler attempted the last drive to destory the Allies and their advance. A key city was that of Bastogne which was a rail and road hub. The American 101st Infantry Division was surrounded and asked to surrunder. The Germans did not understand the response from American General MacAuliffe Nuts.
