Hale Irwin won 3 U.S. Open titles in 1974, 1979 and 1990, when at age 45, he became the oldest player to win the U.S. Open. He also won the 1996 PGA SENIORS Championship. Hale Irwin was United States Team Captain of the inaugural Presidents Cup in 1994, a team on which he played. He was a member of 5 Ryder Cup teams and 2 World Cup teams. From early 1975 through 1978, he played an outstanding 86 tournaments without missing a cut, a feat surpassed only by Jack Nicklaus and Byron Nelson. Hale Irwin was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1992.
