Hale Irwin with his U.S. Open trophy in 1990 at Medinah Country Club. Irwin is one of only 32 players in PGA TOUR history with 20 or more career victories. Among his accomplishments are 3 U.S. Open Titles, when at age 45 he became the oldest player ever to win the U.S. Open. Irwin was the first captain of the United States Presidents Cup Team, in 1994, a team on which he played. He was a member of 5 Ryder Cup Teams and 2 World Cup Teams. From early 1975 through 1978, he played an astounding 86 tournaments without missing a cut, a feat surpassed only by Jack Nicklaus and Byron Nelson. Hale Irwin was inducted to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1992.
