The son of Larry Johnson Sr. and brother of Tony Johnson Larry Johnson enjoyed great success at Penn State University before being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2002 NFL Draft. He initially played in the shadow of Priest Holmes but quickly came into his own and in 2005 rushed for 100-plus yards in nine consecutive games.
