Don Shula is the winningest coach in the history of the NFL. Shula began his career on the field as a player with the Cleveland Browns Baltimore Colts and Washington Redskins. After his retirement in 1959 he joined the Detroit Lions in 1960 as an assistant coach and in 1963 at the age of just 33 was named head coach of the Baltimore Colts. By 1970 Shula was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins and it was with the Dolphins that he would make history. The 1972 squad enjoyed the only perfect season in NFL history winning all its regular season games and sweeping through the playoffs before capping things off with a Super Bowl VII victory. Shula ultimately was on the sidelines for 347 wins won two Super Bowls and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on July 26 1997.
